Nearly all of terrestrial eco-systems in the world can be found in Yunnan, mainly including forestry, shrubbery, meadow, swamp, desert etc;

169 types of the arbor is the symbol/species in the forestry eco-system, accounting for 80% of the total arbor species in China；

The shrubbery eco-system consists of the following 4 types:cold-temperate shrubbery, warm-lime shrubbery and hot-dry river valley shrubbery and hot river beach shrubbery；

There are diversified and extensive meadow in Yunnan, mainly including high-frigid meadow, swamp meadow and cold-temperate meadow。

Aquatic Eco-systems in Yunnan include River and Lake Eco-systems

It has 6 biggest river systems, namely Lan Cangjiang River (the upper-stream of Mekong River), Nu Jiang River (the upper-stream of Salween River), Irrawaddy River, Yuan Jiang River (the upper-stream of Red River), Jin Sha Jiang River (the upper-stream of Yangtze River), Nan Pang Jiang River (the upper-stream of Pearl River), which constitute the basic framework of the fresh water eco-system. The plateau lakes, such as Dian Chi Lake, Er Hai Lake, Fu Xian Lake, Yi Long lake and Lu Gu Lake, are the representative for the unique characteristics of Chinese fresh-water eco-systems.

And the aquatic vegetation consist of the emergent, leaf-floating, submergent and floating plants.

As for aquatic animal, there are abundant zooplankton, benthic animals and fishes.
