Species diversity
and Wildlife Protection
The number of species
in Yunnnan accounts for nearly or above 50% of the total
species found in China, including bryoflora and birds accounting
for the high proportion of the total species, individually
are 68.2% and 66.8%. The mammalia, the pteridophyta, the
angiosperm and fresh water fishes ranks the next place,
following with gymnosperm, reptile and amphibian.
In Yunnan, there
are 164 kinds of wild animals identified as key-protected
ones of the national level, accounting for 63.8% of the
total number of its kind in China. Among them, there are
44 kinds of 1st-class- protected animals and 119 kinds of
2nd-class-protected animals. Meanwhile, there are 158 kinds
of wild plants as national key-protected ones , accounting
for 42.6% of the total number of its kind in China. Among
them, there are 4 kinds of 1st-class-protected plants and
56 kinds of 2nd -class-protected plants, of which the number
ranks No. 1 in China.
