Yunnan is one area in China with the most unique species.

There are 180 categories of angiosperm which were found in China, among which 20 categories can only be found in Yunnan, e.g. magnolia-Maglietiastrum sinicum Law, the Yap Nan flower of the wild-peony family;

There are 399 kinds of fishes in the province, among which 382 are indigenous ones of Yunnan.
